Decalogue Eight

Zofia (Maja Kościałkowska) is an ethics professor who, because she refused to lie, failed to come to the aid of a Jewish girl during World War II. This refusal to bear false witness was in fact a lie, a false excuse made to cover up her secret plan to save many lives at the expense of one. The complexities continue to mount: the threat facing this group of people is revealed to have been false, as well. As the two women meet decades later, will they get to the bottom of Zofia’s ruthless decision?
