Ewa (Maria Pakulnis) uses a clever ruse to disrupt Christmas Eve at the home of her former lover Janusz (Daniel Olbrychski) and his family. She lures him out of his apartment and leads him on an all-night wild goose chase around the city. Their relationship had ended amicably—or so Janusz believes. Ewa had agreed to let him return to his family. But as it turns out, her consent was feigned and forced by circumstances. Despondent with grief and jealousy, she now tries to rekindle the old flame.
