Decalogue Two

Aleksander Bardini plays an aging head physician who leads a lonely existence that centers on his daily routine and memories of his youth. His peaceful life is brutally disrupted by the young violinist Dorota (Krystyna Janda), whose husband (Olgierd Łukaszewicz) is admitted to the hospital in serious condition. Dorota is pregnant with another man’s child. She decides that if her husband survives, she will terminate the pregnancy; if he dies, she will keep the baby and stay with its father. To make a decision, she demands a quick and unambiguous medical diagnosis from the doctor.
